Flu Season Is Still Going Strong

What’s Worse? Coronavirus or the Flu? While the Coronavirus is worth keeping an eye on, there’s a much bigger problem that we face and it comes every year right here in the U.S. We’re talking about the flu! Did you know that the flu is a serious disease? Kids and adults are both susceptible to contracting the virus and in an average year, the flu causes 49,000 deaths and 200,000 hospitalizations in the U.S. alone.

Protect Your Child With a Flu Vaccination. The “flu season” is usually from November-April each year. Receiving an annual flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the circulation of the flu and protect yourself. It's important to remember that annual vaccinations are necessary because flu viruses change from year to year. Flu Shots are a quick procedure that can keep your child from contracting the flu virus. It’s also a good time to remind them about the importance of handwashing! If it’s their first time receiving a flu vaccination, your pediatrician will likely have them return for a booster the following month. If you would like to schedule a flu vaccination for your child, make an appointment with Kids First today by calling our Raleigh office (919) 250-3478 or our Clayton office (919) 267-1499.
