Immunization Awareness Month

As we prepare for National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) in August, Kids First Pediatrics wants to highlight the importance of immunizations for people of all ages. The 2024/2025 school year is approaching and parents and caregivers must ensure that their children are up-to-date on their immunizations.

Immunizations are one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and protect public health. NIAM raises awareness about the importance of immunizations, ensuring that children are protected from potentially serious illnesses.

Schools can be breeding grounds for infectious diseases. By ensuring that children are caught up on their immunizations, we can help prevent outbreaks and protect the overall health of students, teachers, and the community.

How to Get Kids Caught Up on Immunizations:

  1. Review Immunization Records: Start by reviewing your child's immunization records to identify any missed or incomplete vaccinations. Check with Kids First Pediatrics or your previous healthcare provider to obtain accurate and up-to-date records.

  2. Consult with the professionals at Kids First Pediatrics: Schedule an appointment with your child's healthcare provider to discuss their immunization status. They will guide you through the recommended immunization schedule and help you determine which vaccines are needed to get your child caught up.

  1. Follow the Recommended Immunization Schedule: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides a recommended immunization schedule for children of all ages. This schedule outlines the vaccines children should receive at specific ages to ensure optimal protection. Your Kids First Provider can help you follow this schedule as a guide for catching up on missed vaccinations.
